He will maintain his college eligibility while exploring his chances in the NBA draft. No surprise.

First of all, my Not The Final Four T-Shirt arrived this week and I proudly wore it today.  It's a real nice shirt and I highly recommend!

Regarding Akins, I'd say this is a smart decision to explore and I'd imagine Izzo is fully behind him and supporting this.  In my mind, he's way better and has more potential than Christie, so no complaints from me.  I'll root for him whether he goes pro or stays.

In terms of MSU, him leaving would partially alleviate a log-jam for minutes.  However, it'd certainly be in a way I wouldn't want.  My expectations for next year are that Akins will be the best player on the team or, at minimum, a co-best player.  His absence would be a big loss, depth or not, for what is hopefully a championship or bust year.  Nonetheless, I hope he makes the decision that will ultimately be best for him in the long run.

Go Green!

Kindness is free.

@houseizzorockin This was to be expected and honestly the way it’s worked out is a best case scenario for MSU.  The worst case would have been his entering the portal and that was very much on the table.

could MSU have a great season without him?  Sure but the odds of doing so with those three guards all back?  They’re better for sure.  I think the other thing is that of the three, Jaden is the one with the biggest potential to improve substantially over last season. The general belief is that you need NBA players to win a title. Jaden can be that, though I don’t think it’s likely to be right now.

If he does come back (and i agree that he has the biggest potential to make a huge leap over last season), would certainly think he would get many more opportunities to be an offensive focus; taking many of the sets that were called for Joey Hauser.  Also, having an off-season without injury will significantly aid in his development and continuity to be a focal point this year.  Though you never know...he might hear enough from the NBA to take a chance now.
