Regardless of what actually transpired here, this is sad and it is getting worse. I have heard that the Bates camp reached out to MSU when looking to leave Memphis and MSU took a pass. (I have no idea if it was an immediate pass, or a discussion and a pass off to EMU... ) Either way, WOW, this is sad.
Yes, that is correct re: MSU and I am under the impression it was pretty immediate.
No idea what's actually going down with this particular case but in general, it has been nothing but bad news since the moment he left Ypsi Lincoln. So unfortunate because he's the most impressive HS freshman basketball player I've ever seen. It shouldn't have ever gone like this.
I watched King Richard (I knew the story pretty well before) and I was alarmed that other parents may think they could do the same with their own kid(s). Very alarming and disappointing what transpired here. People missed the part of King Richard where the girls were required to do homework, learn different languages... Accountability and responsibility.
Again, I am not sure what transpired here, but it is interesting that MSU took an immediate pass. Trust in Tom on this one.
And for what it is worth, those stating that MSU dodged a bullet here... I guess, as he at one point did commit to MSU, but that was a surprise to MSU and when MSU had its second chance, there was a PASS. That's not dodging a bullet.
@offshore-sam MSU recruited him and was definitely interested in the first go around. They were surprised by the timing etc but I don’t think it was because they believed it wouldn’t or couldn’t happen.
Things looked very different in the summer of 2020 on a lot of fronts
Man, I definitely was not rooting for him after the circus show his recruitment was but I would never wish this on him.
Sounds like a terrible situation hopefully it doesn't destroy his career
