Sissoko being ready to play 20 minutes a night is just so essential for not only this team, but Jaxon Kohler. Rod mentioning freshman who are forced into huge roles early (Aka Nick Ward) not developing properly got me thinking about this. If Kohler is playing heavy minutes, I hope it’s because he earned it, not out of necessity.

However, Kohler at least on the surface appears to be a really hard worker. Hopefully he can buy into working his ass off on the defensive side of the ball like he’s said.

I wonder if Izzo will get creative and for short segments play a lineup of big/long wings with Hauser and Hall in the front court. Hoggard, Holloman, Brooks, Hall, Hauser (a lot of players whose name begin with H). If the wings can make it difficult to get the ball to the bigs, maybe Hall and Hauser could defend well enough.

@hazelmotes I think you’re gonna see a similar sissoko to what we are used to at the beginning of the season, and by February I think it’s possible you’ll see a much improved player. Really needs some in-game minutes logged imo

@loomin_knotty my general sense of what MSU expects is along these lines…there’s an understanding that we’re not going to see a finished product in November, which is generally true for the entire team but in this case, especially so for a young/inexperienced group at the 5.

@hazelmotes I think you will see some limited use of Joey as a 5, but the hope has to be that it’s in situations where MSU is dictating the matchup, rather than doing it with no other option.  We saw too much of the latter last season, IMO.
