I won't shed any tears losing ESPN coverage. They can make up their lost revenue with MACtion.

Lots of massive implications to this, but there’s currently a lack of clarity as to what it all means for basketball.  Does ESPN continue to have big ten basketball rights?  What about events like the Champions Classic and most of the holiday tournaments, which are owned by ESPN?

When the LA schools join, I wonder if you’ll see a few 10pm est kicks out there on FS1. I wouldn’t like it if MSU was playing but I’d kind of like it if it was just a random game. Extends a college football day a little longer.

@spartan-warrior seems to be a sense from what I’ve seen that there isn’t a desire on the Networks’ part to do that…7:30 eastern kicks seem to be the plan for USC/UCLA home games. I guess we’ll see when the rubber hits the road, though.

Although you have to wonder when it comes to basketball that the tips will be late.  Even a 9 PM tip off is 6 PM out there. Not sure about traffic patterns but that time might be tough to make.

Of course, that assumes anyone attends USC basketball games….

To be clear, the 10pm kick would be in addition to the noon/3:30/7:30 games. I’m thinking:

Noon (Fox) - OSU @ PSU - personally enjoying a couple beers once the 2nd half starts

3:30 (CBS) - USC @ MSU - Beers continue but now they’re “adrenaline beers” and they go down faster.

7:30 (NBC) - Wisconsin @ Michigan - If MSU wins, it’s celebratory Tito’s. If we lose, sad Tito’s. Either way, rooting against Michigan.

10pm (FS1) - Minnesota @ UCLA - Now it’s just weird drinking and maybe make halftime before calling it quits. Degenerate gamblers stay up for the end to make sure the under sticks. Random midwestern bars turn on music rather than play the audio for this game once the NBC game ends. You’ll see a lot of ads for “The General” insurance with Shaq. Guys drunkenly start texting their buddies, telling them they’re looking up flights to LA for when we play UCLA in the Rose Bowl in 2028. Dudes are convincing themselves they should start a B1G helmet collection. Single guys start texting the one girl they know who went to Minnesota, and haven’t talked to in 3 years, “your guys look good tonight” hoping that leads to a rekindled romance. It’s America’s Game!!

Then the rest of the schedule could be filled out on BTN and FS1.

BTN Noon - Rutgers @ Maryland

BTN Noon - Indiana @ Illinois

FS1 4pm - Iowa @ Northwestern

BTN 4pm - Purdue @ Nebraska
