- solid job on the glass. Not letting UK play pinball off the boards and that’s a big reason why MSU is up by 2 at the break.
- big time stuff from Joey and Malik. Need that to continue
- Guards have done some nice stuff offensively but Wheeler is killing them with dribble penetration. Need to find a way to slow him down in the second half. Not an easy task…I think he’s the best PG in the country. Obviously they also have not been strong enough with the ball, given the 8 TOs. That’s mitigated the largely good work they’ve done on the glass.
- For the second straight game, MSU’s transition play has been outstanding. Need to do what they couldn’t against Gonzaga…sustain it for another 20 min.
- Going to need more production from 3 to win this. Just a simple fact that MSU needs the 3 to feature as a big part of the offense all year long.
Leading at the half in both of the big games so far- I like the fight in this team. We missed so many open looks in the 1H- if we can clean that up and cool it with the TOs, we have a real shot here.
Except for the turnovers, that was a mentally tough first half. Didn’t let UK’s size intimidate us for long. They punched us and we punched right back.
Gotta keep the rebounding and defensive intensity up (loved the team rebounding which has felt missing the last couple of years) and gotta keep it up at the 3 like Rod said (can we get Walker open more)?
