Yeah, I agree and think the Nebraska game was a little of a bellweather about what he might become. Still a lot to clean up on defense but the skill set is there. I saw an interview of him after practice and they asked him why he only played 4 minutes in Madison and he said he made a lot of mistakes on defense. Izzo always uses minutes to focus and refocus guys so that was probably a little message to the big guy to pay attention to the details.

I am hopeful that the second time Kohler sees some of these guys he has a better idea about how to play against them. His freshman year reminds me a little of Loyer‘s in that both came in as scorers but weren’t quite strong enough to play in the conference in their freshmen year. I seem to recall, though, that Loyer did  have one really good game against OSU near the end of the season.

Yeah, in the Big Ten Tournament. I think Kohler will be better sooner than Loyer though. He is going to have spurts in conference play where things slow down a little and he is more effective.

My guess is that Jaxson Kohler is going to have one big game this season where he catches fire offensively and puts up a big number. I'm looking at the game at Iowa as my guess. Just a hunch.

Whelp, could not have been more wrong here. Didn't even play in the 2nd half. 🙂 

 

Ha. I don’t think it was a bad prediction but the defensive problems caused by Rebraca required a savvy defender which Jaxon isn’t yet.
