The more I see of this team the more I believe they miss Fears. He was never going to be an offensive threat but he brought needed energy. He also kept AJ accountable.
Agreed. The biggest question might've been would Izzo have actually moved AJ to the bench and started Fears instead? Arguably, he could do the same with Holloman for AJ and hasn't as of yet. Right now, if AJ hasn't gotten better by this late in the season, I'm definitively a doubter he'll be able to do so now.
With Holloman, you don't lose defense, and he generally keeps turnovers low too. So, what would really change if AJ gives up minutes?

I don’t think Holloman was ever a threat to replace AJ like Fears. Once Fears was gone for the season AJ knew he could stay ahead of Holloman. If AJ doesn’t get his layups I could see Holloman getting more minutes. I also think AJ is the tallest guard on the team which makes a difference with certain matchups.
I’m really hoping both AJ and Tre realize it’s now or never and up their games so it doesn’t matter who is in the game. Just play to win.
