This kid likely won't start, but he should have an immediate impact on the team next year with his rebounding, defense and energy. 15 min a game seems likely.
We'll see how the roster shapes up though. Rod alluded to the staff wanting to bring on an experienced 4 from the portal next year to share minutes with Booker. I like that, but will be interesting to see how it impacts Carr's minutes and what position he will play most.
@tjakes12 Yeah, as I think we discussed on the podcast, what will likely be asked of these guys (barring mass defections or something) is going to be very different than what we saw for the '16 class. Really, only Booker has an obvious path to a starting role. I think all of them will be rotation guys but as to how big the minutes are? Remains to be seen.
@ac4 That was the bit of info I got recently which struck me as a surprise. In my mind, he looked like an obvious 4 man but it now seems clear to me that the staff doesn't see it that way. I think the biggest thing at work is that using one freshman to hold another one accountable probably isn't the idea dynamic...but I also think they may see more potential for ball skill development in Carr.
@rodmsu1968 If this is the case, and I have no reason to doubt that, it makes me even more excited about Carr. An athletic freak as a "3 and D" wing is awesome. Just needs to be able to shoot a bit.
@rodmsu1968 I do agree with that entirely. But mostly I think the fact that a credentialed nba draft analyst is saying this isn’t your average 4 star, is just pretty exciting
@hazelmotes I especially like how it mentions that Carr can shoot and much more to his game than dunking. This has the potential to be a pretty special class.
