I know the current rules don't allow for it but still, since these have been going on for a decade or so now, I'm kind of surprised no one has found a way to make money off these scrimmages with like PPV or something.  $5.99 then have a Manning Cast version of Mateen, Garland, and a media guy talking over it.  Rules tend to change when there's money to be made.  I'm sure part of it is that the coaches don't want to put anything on tape too.

@spartan-warrior I think you have to look at the purpose as well.  They want the freedom to experiment without ANY pressure to win. Like it or not, if you play these games with fans or TV, coaches would feel some pressure to try to win because the opposition is legitimate (unlike exhibition games against D2 programs).

@rodmsu1968 absolutely.  Personally, I'd probably watch even if they weren't keeping score and/or if the coaches could arbitrarily stop the action to teach something.  But the more I think about it, the more it's clear that the coaches are probably vehemently against any public access to it.  I'm sure Coach Izzo lights into guys during those things and with no crowd noise I'm sure it's LOUD. 🤣
