Despite going 29-6 last year, they finished the last 12 games at 7-5. Did teams figure them out or did the freshmen guards just finally break down?

They also won quite a few games by only 2-3 points. I am just not sure they are going to have the same success they had last year.

I'm inclined not to underestimate them.  I think we have a much better, more experienced low-post to counter Edey.  However, I'm not liking that we go there and they don't come to E.L.

As far as teams having figured them out, it may have been Indiana specifically that did that as the Hoosiers swept their season series within those last 12 games, and they no longer have TJD. Purdue then did go and win the B10 tournament down the stretch which is no small feat.

I'm not sure what happened in their tourney game as I did not watch it.  But, whatever it was, it must've been ugly.  Nonetheless, I expect Edey to be Edey and then the young guys to improve.

@houseizzorockin I do think they’ll be good, but I don’t think enough attention is given to the way they closed last year. While they did win the conference tournament, they beat a 9 seed, a 13 seed, and then a 10 seed (by 2 points) to win it. Purdue relies heavily on a single player and if teams discover a strategy to make him a little less effective, I could see them losing 3-4 more conference games this season.

I am not discounting that their 2 freshmen guards last year might have hit a wall and will be more capable to get through an entire season as stronger sophomores, especially if they added any one in the portal to help a little there. They certainly could repeat and could maybe even be better with the addition of their freshman athletic small forward. I don’t think, though, that either is a given like the “experts” seem to think.
