Nice to get a buy game to reduce the stress levels. The whole team has got to feel so good knowing they are home for the next month.

The Good:

1. Hauser, Hoggard, and Walker are consistently taking care of business. No longer have to worry about any of them.

2. Defense put the clamps on. Brown isn’t great offensively, but still impressive performance.

3. Jaden Akins looking quick and his shot is consistently falling.

4. Took the lead rather early and never let Brown make a run to make it interesting. That’s what you do vs low majors.

5. This is the best MSU team at valuing the ball since…as long as I can remember.

6. To be able to defend like this without getting into foul trouble is also very encouraging.

7. Davis Smith getting his first bucket was awesome.

The Bad:

1. Not sure we need to be running our offense through Sissoko to start. I think he’s a lob/put back type of player and there is nothing wrong with that.

2. Far too many offensive possessions bog down. If it’s not one of the starters (minus Sissoko), this team can’t score. We need Malik back.

3. Holloman is a solid defender, but he’s a no factor offensively.

4. When the game was closer, Brown was holding their own on the glass. Unacceptable and Izzo knows it.

5. I know there is a better player in Kohler. He needs to find comfort in the offense.

6. I don’t believe Carson Cooper should be playing. I just don’t think he’s an elite Big 10 level player and I wish we had another option there.

The Injured:

Clean sheet.

It might be unfair to say Holloman is not a factor on offense since he led the team with 6 assists today.

@hazelmotes that’s definitely fair! I was referring to his inability to consistently score. I definitely value the other things that he brings, but would love to see him just be a 6-8 PPG player. I’m very encouraged by the way he plays defense and his ability to distribute/run the offense

We talked about Holloman in the show and I think the next step for him is to work on confidence to do something himself to score. Whether that is driving the lane, a mid range, or 3 point shot he needs to be something of a threat to be even more useful on the court. Easy to forget he's a freshman because he is so good defensively.
