I notice both Purdue and UConn have big men who are over 7 feet tall. NC State’s big is only 6’9” but weighs 275. The NBA ROY is going to be 7’4” (but weighs less than Booker, 210 to 220). Chet Holmgren is 7’1”; the last two NBA MVPs have been 6’11”. Success seems to be recently tied to having good big men (although Victor Wembenyama has not yet helped the Spurs). Even had MSU’s guards played up to expectations, the team’s lack of a big man likely would have limited them. Of course, if the guards had a better big man, they may have been more successful.
