Welcome to The Final Four Is Not on the Schedule discussion board. A forum for the serious and casual MSU fan. Opinions welcome – stay respectful.
Media selected, ten teams represented with Wisconsin getting 2 players, Wahl and Hepburn. Hall from MSU selected.
I honestly think it would better if Malik were not on this team -- less pressure/expectations. Thus far, the more expectation, the less he rises to the ocassion on a consistent basis. Obviously hoping this year is different and he consistently is consistent
@drew I could see any one of Hall, Akins, Hoggard, or Walker making all conference, but I could also see all of them not making it.
I found the inclusion of two Wisconsin players “interesting,” to say the least.
Jackson-Davis vs Dickinson vs Edey is going to be the driving story line by the media for the season. "The Three Towers" in the conference. You can see it coming already...
I wonder if we will see any sophomores make a big jump and land on the all-conference team. Top candidates would be Indiana’s Tamar Bates, MSU’s Jaden Akins, Michigan’s Kobe Bufkin, and maybe Maryland’s Julian Reese. All were rated fairly high in the 2021 class.
@drew I see what you're saying. There are guys on both sides of the "Do More / Do Less" fence for us. Sometimes I wish Walker and Akins would push the envelope a little more. Sometimes, Hall and Hoggard would be a little less aggressive. Though I'll admit, Hoggard's aggressiveness is exactly what we need at times when we're going through a drought...but it can also drive me nuts. Double edge sword, I guess.
@spartan-warrior I would be less surprised to see Hoggard or Walker make first team all conference than any other Spartan, in part because I cannot think of a lot of elite PGs in the Big Ten this year, and I think either of them could be the best in the league. I hope Rod and Eric include a podcast that predicts the all conference team because they know the games of players on the other teams.
